Pest or Pets?

In the area that we live in, there is an over abundance of deer that roam around. A lot of the long-time residents consider them pests because they will eat your plants and flowers and beg you for food, yes, like a dog. I think it’s the coolest thing ever and right now, they are having babies, so it is amazing seeing all of these tiny spotted creatures roaming up and down the streets. We have a group of 5 that show up every single day. A couple have done this for the almost 2 years we have lived there. One in particular, my buddy, is Miss Piggy. She has a slit in her left ear, eats out of my hand/cup and lets me pet her. I gave her this name because she always makes sure she is first in line to get fed and will bully all of the others so she can have more food. She had a baby last year who I named donkey because she truly looks like a donkey. Miss Piggy is pregnant again this year along with 3 of the others in the group. They are smart animals too! When they see my truck pulling through the neighborhood or hear our garage door open, they will literally run to our house to be fed. We keep bags of corn for them, but if we ever run out, they get leftovers…they are NOT picky eaters. lol I find it a little therapeutic, I guess, to be able to feed them and pet them and just really watch them.

Do any of you have any cool animals that you get to experience??

Hope you all have a bad Ash day!! 🙂

  1. So cute! That is awesome! Such beautiful animals. What a lovely experience. It’s a shame that some people in your neighbourhood see them as pests. They are beautiful animals that are harmless. I think it’s amazing that you and your neighbours have taken it upon yourselves to take care of these gorgeous animals. Enjoy!! 🙂

  2. How neat! I would love to be in so close of proximity with nature and wild animals! I don’t have any to feed right now, as I’m currently enjoying the #apartmentlife. 🙂 But I dream of my future bird feeder staked in the yard, surrounded by bird houses that I hand string!
I saw you were one of my blog followers (which I appreciate SO MUCH) and I just wanted to let you know I moved to a new blog place: http://jjheartblog.com And it would mean so much to me if you followed me there!
